Moon Cycles

Moon Cycles

Orbit of the moon around the Earth (to Scale).

Description:

Shows why it is that the moon goes through cycles (full moon, half moon etc). The blue cones represent the view of the sky that can be seen from that place on Earth - this is often the central concept that impedes understanding of moon cycles.
